  • Harley-Davidson, did the factory paint police bikes?

Question to all who may know:
Did H-D paint the special order police bikes@ the factory or did the dealers have that done??? Reason, I just picked up a 9k mile close to mint original Ma. State Police 57 FL, 2 tone blue, which is the states color scheme. The paint is first paint, appears nothing under it, other then some red oxide primer underneath the dash cover. I always assumed the factory painted them, especially for the Ma. State Police, who ordered many units thru-out the years. And, I'm sure other states had them done as well. Appreciate any information, and or proof of who did the paint work--Thanks,BPK!!

    Brian,
I have a couple order blanks from Molenaar where several custom colored police bikes were ordered. The MoCo even lettered and numbered the bikes.

Thanks Chris-appreciate it. Like I said, I always assumed that H-D did the paint, but assuming usually gets me in trouble-again Thanks, BPK!!
