  • Rubber restoration.

I heard today that if you place a warped shriveled piece of dried out rubber in a bath of baby oil for a month, it will restore it. As rubber has a memory. Is this true? Has anyone ever tried it? I'm fresh out of rubbers.

    Rubbers

I've not tried baby oil but I suspect it _may_ help. I use glycerin to rejuvinate old rubber. However if the rubber is extremely dry, cracked and crumbly there isn't a whole lot that can be done. If just a few cracks exist the baby oil will likely help. Non-neoprene rubbers are reactive to petroleum and chlorinated products to varying degrees. So be careful with other petroleum products.
