    • Hi Kevin, good stuff, I am looking forward to your updates with the improved valve timing.

On a side note I see you are now in the revamped garage, its looking good. Are you going to finish the ceiling? Looks like you have lots of space but I am also pretty sure that it will fill up quickly. Empty space in my workshop and garage seems to act like a black hole and sucks things into it in no time.

Thanks John. I'm Not planning to finish the ceiling. I've built some shelves in the trusses, I'm using the space for parts storage. You're right about the space. However much space you have, that's how much stuff you'll have. Right now there are 6 motorcycles, a Willy's CJ-5, a wood stove, and a big ass tool box in there. It's pretty much full already and I haven't even built the work bench or the welding bench yet. I knew all this going in, though. This is one phase. I've got room to expand.

Getting old makes you tough, right? I just made an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon. Apparently I have a torn meniscus in my knee. Aaargh.

              • I was telling Scott Larson about this movie 'White Knuckle' at AMCA last night, but I couldn't remember the name. I found a link to this trailer, so I figured I'd put out a shameless and unsolicited plug for it. I think it's available on Amazon. It's about the guys that rode the first Motorcycle Cannonball in 2010. In Felicia Morgan's words, "the rockstars of the motorcycle world." My favorite part is Jersey John Szalay's connecting rod story. And I've told him that. Check the trailer. Highly recommended.

                • I have that film, its very good if you are into old bikes. (Talk about stating the obvious!)

The problem is that I think I have lent it to someone and I cant remember who. If I can get it back I must watch it again.

                    • Very cool Kevin, interesting too. I well have a look at mine just for fun, enjoyed the video and I am watching with much interest. Were the exhaust lifters as worn, or were they in better shape ? Very interested in trying to help the Powerplus breath atleast as good as they did back in their day - neat stuff.

The exhausts don't seem to have the same problem, because they have a replaceable roller. You can get new rollers from Ziggy of Canada.
The next question would be why don't the intake followers have rollers? I don't know, but I have thought about making some that do. One thing at a time, right?

                                https://youtu.be/KbA46UyVG44

After three prototypes of the Intake cam followers and two prototypes of the Intake lift levers, the design is now set. I have managed to improve the valve open duration by 86 degrees and the valve lift by .109 inches. We will proceed with making a set out of D2 tool steel to run in the engine.
