Does anyone know of a good source (aka, cheap) place to get PEEK stock. I want to make my own intake manifold seals to replace the original steel ones on my Excelsior. Also my Chief. McMaster Carr and MSC are my last resort.

There is no cheap source for PEEK, it is one of the most high tech plastics ever made.
The unique thing about PEEK is that it retains all its physical properties up to 500 degrees F. Most others start loosing them in the 250-300 deg range.
A 1 ft. piece 2 in. dia. is about $300 and you are turning most of it into chips. Even the pellets that I mold my seals from is $65 a pound. Thats about 20 times what more common plastics like ABS, Polycarbonate, & Acetal cost.
If it costs much less than that, you are getting ripped off by someone substituting a cheaper material.
Tom Cotten who posts on this forum can machine you a set to fit and you won't have to buy a foot long piece.
Good Luck !

Eric, I have a source for it here in Pinellas. I sometimes can get a drop slid my way. I will see if any drops are avail. or what kind of price I can get on a bar if you like. With a coring tool you can core out a 2" piece to make Knuckle or Pan ferrules out of and still have a plug big enough for 45's and Scouts!Last edited by indianut; 03-12-2010, 04:53 PM.
