  • HX181 question

    Hi all...
I am rebuilding an HX 181 Schebler, and am trying to determine if the low speed andjusting screw came in 2 or more lengths. I bought a repro and an NOS and neither of them reaches close to the throttle disc. Both are the same, about 3/4" from tip to under the head, and they seem about 1/4" too short. I never ran this carb, and it didn't have the screw, but I think from a low speed adjustment standpoint, this is too much gap.

Can anyone advise if a later/earlier one is about 1" long? If it is, might you have one to part with??

    Dan!

I failed to find my reference photos today, but please remember that H models came in three sizes: 3/4", 1", and 1 1/4". Your HX181 is the large one, and the most commonly available repop screw comes closest to the 1 inchers.

If all else fails you may have to custom file-cut your own throttledisc to mate whatever screw you find closest.
