any suggestions for a good VL Tranny mechanic in Minnesoa

New rebuild with all new parts but it does not shift smoothly. I would like to have someone who knows these take a look for me. Thank you

Ray Bartomeli located in Connecticut. He has the "Harley VL Motorcycles " FB page and extensive knowledge of VL three and four speeds.

It's a crash box so don't expect it to shift like the later constant mesh ones. It's a straightforward transmission you should be able to work on yourself. My VL restoration book has pictures and a step by step rebuild procedure.

            Thanks for the advice.
i was able to resolve the issue. Two things I can share caused the problem. The spring loaded button on the inside of the top lid was stuck so that made shifting so bad. I oiled the button. I also discovered that the new fingers on top of the lid that fit the pin on the clutch lever had the 3rd gear not making a good connection so I had to make this opening slightly larger and now it lets the gears mesh properly.
