My first Panhead teardown, any opinions on these pistons? Burnt looking oil on the sides only,,,,Is this normal for a high milage engine? I have not measured them yet, but the cylinders are barely
worn First pass measurements are 3.4380 to 3.4385!

Your combustion chamber, which the cylinder bore and piston assembly is a direct part of, definitely shows signs of wear as it should at its age.

Proper measurements and calculations should be taken throughout the top end. This includes rocker arms, rocker supports, valve's, guides, seat dimensions, cylinder bore X&Y through stroke travel, etc...
