  • Remove steel insert on 5th bolt of Knuckle transmission

I need to replace the threaded steel insert for the 5th bolt of my Knuckle transmission. I do however not know how the steel insert is mounted and how to approach the removal. Is it just pressed in and fixed with the pin or is it threaded in and locked with the pin or different? Would appreciate some information and recommendations how to approach the project.

It is cast in place. Just repair the threads, you cannot replace the insert.

If its anything like a Panhead spark plug insert, they are pretty large in diameter and alot of material has to be removed to get them out.

Thanks for your replies. I will let the insert in and change the game plan.
