Knucklehead valve guides

I would like to rebuild the heads on my Knuckle myself, at least as much as I can. When pressing in the valve guides is it a good idea to put some kind of sealer or gasket cement to the asbestos gaskets under the spring covers to prevent oil leaks? I am using repo gaskets with NOS guides. Barry

I use a very thin layer of sealer.
Squeegee it on with my finger so there isn't enough to ooze out.

Try a little Hylomar on each side of the gasket, I rub a lite coat on both sides of almost every gasket I use. Seals real good and the gaskets strip real easy when it needs to come apart later.
