    Panhead Hyd. Lifters

Does anyone know - do the early panhead hydraulic lifters (1948 through 1952 - on top of the pushrod) get adjusted similar to the later (1953) hydraulic lifters, ie: bleed, adjust to 'touch' and then 4 turns in ???? Thanks...

Shop dope 262 (dated 21-10-1947) says with engine cold, loosen the pushrod until loose, adjust tappet til just snug and then 2 full turns. Shop dope 263 (dated 21-11-1947) supersedes 262 and specifies 3 full turns. It says with tappets accurately adjusted the hydraulic units are compressed 3/32 of an inch ... Perry
