  • Need recommendation for a Panhead shop & Indian shop in Ohio or adjacent state please

I'm willing to drive a bit with each if it will mean quality work at a fair price and time frame. I'd like to drop complete bikes off and have the motors and trans gone through and corrected. I've been burned locally with both so I'm kind of twice bit and forth shy. (The pan has less than 300 miles on a complete rebuild last year and the chief was poorly rebuilt before I got it less than 1000 miles ago). -2 different shops. Thanks in advance.

Thanks guys. I've heard nothing but good things about Tbone but he's about 16 hours round trip from where I am in Ohio and although it's somewhat doable, if by chance I needed to bring it back for any reason I would be looking at 16 hours x 4 with dropping it off and picking it up. 32 with no trouble. I'm kind of hoping there's someone similar closer than Illinois.

How far are you from Paul Friebus?

We're getting closer. That shaves about a dozen hours off the 2 trips. I thought he was primarily a Harley flathead guy though. I looked at his website before I started this thread and didn't see anything about Indians or Pans.

You should look at Bone-a-Fide. Very talented machinist, welder, builder with extensive Panhead, and Indian experience. I've never heard a bad thing about him, and I am always impressed with his approach to challenging problems. Worth a look.

Thanks Eric, but as I said he's over 16 hours round trip. That's 48 hours driving if I didn't pick them both up at the same time. There's got to be a closer reputable shop. Anybody?

Paul will do a good job on the pan. I had him redo my 64 and he has done 2 knuckles for me as well. Might call him on the Indian. Might or might not be able to handle it, but Robin Markey at Bob's Indian isn't too far from Paul and you could combine the trip. Paul is reasonable and a straight shooter and timely.

Thanks Rollo. I'm gonna look into both. No problem Eric. But stop doing that to yourself. (Unless you're contemplating one of those big life decisions like marriage).

Unfortunately for a couple reasons that's not gonna work either. One being I'm still looking at 13 1/2 hours round trip x going back to pick each bike back up. They get recommended a lot on the forums with nothing but high praise. But I'm still back at square 1. (I sent you a pm Rollo).

I got the Indian taken care of. Just the pan to go.
