  • Distributor/Timer ID help

I picked this distributor up a bit ago and am not too sure what it goes to. At first I thought it was JD, but the cam profile is different then the ones I have seen before. Any one see one like it before?

The cam profile suggests vertical twin. Spark every 180 degrees of cam rotation.

      Or an opposed twin timer.

scratching my head on that one Robbie. I have an Onan (opposed) powered welder, its pistons hit their tops same time. I don't recall whether the sport twin's crank does the same, or what the BMW's crank looks like. I'll take you at your word, and assume then that their throws are 180 degrees offset.
I mean, John Deere didn't build motorcycle engines, did they?

That is for a Harley opposed twin sport model. Made 1919-1923 but I believe that the generator model was introduced in 1920. The sport model Pistons do both hit top dead center at the same time but one is coming up on a compression stroke and the other is on an exhaust stroke.
