    stripped threads on Linkert body

Two of the four 12-24 threaded 3625 bolt holes on my M53-A1 carb that hold the air cleaner backing plate on are stripped. There doesn't appear to be enough surrounding metal to drill out and use a helicoil. Does anyone have experience using helicoil to repair these or suggestions on other ways to repair them? Thanks, Mark

    Mark!

My shop installs Helicoil (or equivalent) inserts into those holes routinely, without issue.
Please grind the aircleaner flange to flat afterward.

Thanks, Cotten! Glad to hear it can be done with a helicoil.
