    Sorry for another mystery, Folks,...

But what is this thing on this DLX12?

    Thanks in advance of course,

      Mark!

If it is, it is frozen, and since the shop that sent the carb was in a terrible hurry, I did no invasive surgery.

Note how it does not touch the airhorn as shown in my last post, and how the DLX12 (photo snagged from ebay) attached here lacks it entirely:

The unique one also had an unusual main nozzle and venturi.

Hi Tom...I have a DLX 21 . I'm not sure how it relates to your Dlx 12, but mine looks just like the one you found on

          Another clue, Folks,...

Here is a DLX14 with the bump on the casting,

          but not drilled for anything.

I'm thinking your question is being asked with something of a tongue-in-cheek attitude?
Old carbs were built with multiple applications in mind. Use on marine engines adds features that are foreign to motorcycle needs. Different engines could be adapted to with different jetting and interchangeable venturi's. The carb castings often evolved over time with provisions for specific applications added or deleted as a new batch of castings were produced.
That "bump" looks like it may have been used, on certain engines, possibly as a port for recycling crankcase vapors.
