  • Carter carbs

I've recently purchased 2 Carter carbs but have not been able to find out anything about them.
Where they just an aftermarket carb or did some manufacturer fit them as standard equiptment?
If fitted as standard equiptment who used them and when?
They have two patent dates on them, March 12th 1012 and December 5th 1916, which would suggest use in the early 1920's.
They show very little evidence of serious use and responded well to ultra-sonic cleaning.
I've attached some photos and any information would be gratefully received.

I had a friend that ran a Carter carb on his 1919 Excelsior with very good results. He sold that bike, and found another Carter carb for a second Excelsior. For whatever reason, he could not get it to work well so he went back to the Schebler. The Carter is a very unique looking carb.
