  • Horn Wiring

Anyone have a pic or can explain how wires are routed from the front terminal panel to the horn. This is for my 49 EL. I would think that the 49 and early 50 pans are basically wired the same or very similar.

Searched this forum and a couple of others for answer but so far no luck.

The 1949 Terminal Board (terminal plate)is located inside the fork tins. Behind the headlamp.

Thanks Chrisbut I guess I need to explain a bit better. HD ran wires along a certain path of the bike (from point 'A' to point 'B'). Easiest example being the spark advance wire and the throttle cable wire. They also ran a certain path (or so it seems from looking at a lot of pics) for the wiring harness from the terminal boards in the fork plate to the ignition switch as well the one on the seat post frame over to the brake switch and such.

So what i am needing is to knowhow the horn wires go from the terminal board to the horn posts...come out on the right or left side of the neck and how they snake they way down and out.

The wires come out of the tins with the loom on top of the frame and drop down between the tanks and to the horn.

Notice the cut out on the back of your dash cover and you will see where to put the wires.

              Panz4ever,
Check out my blog at www.oldbikesinsd.blogspot.com for some great 49 pics that show you what you need to know about routing the wires on your 49. I just took the pics of my daddy's original paint 49 today. I hope they help you and others out!
              best,
