Are there diffrances in big twin springer headlights? I have one unit that has what appers to be a ground screw just behind the mounting bolt. Bill was selling a NOS WLA one that has just that screw. The later lights don’t seem to have it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3AIT&viewitem=

Actually it is the pre 1942 lights that don't have the ground screw.

      No ground screw here either

      Hi Chris,

Would this be a pre 42 headlight? it came with a 1930 VL that I am working on
Any idea as to what it may have been off of originally

So this light with the ground screw would be correct for 42-57? Bob

Maybe its just your photo. That doesn't look like a CycleRay headlamp.

Didn't the 47 or so, and later lamps use a rivet instead of a screw?

Chris, I agree with you, that does not look like a cycleray.

Guide made all kinds of lights for all kinds of vehicles - trucks, cars, tractors, dozers, and bikes. The H-D cycle-ray is unique from what I have seen.

I have seen Guide lights advertised as cycle-rays on Ebay - in one case Carl Olsen pointed out to someone in a thread on this forum that what he thought was off a bike was actually off a tractor.
