Just curious, why did Harley provide a switch to turn on/off the speedometer light? My theory is to increase the amount of current available for the battery with 3 brush generators. Since 3 brush generators are not regulated and the boost from the lighting coil for the lighting load may be marginal at best to keep the battery charged. Turning off the speedometer light when not needed would save 1/2 amp that can go to the battery. Am I close or not even warm?
