  • Bosch DAV Magneto

I recently picked up a Bosch DAV clockwise magneto that is marked 47 degrees. Any idea what it may have been used on?
Harley, Excelsior, and many others are 45 degree.
    Indian, 42 degree.
    What was 47 degree?

That is a weird one. I once had one marked 50 and it was off of a Pope or something like that. Never heard of 47.

50 degree Bosch DAV was used on JAP engines - e.g. the 90 bore as in Trump racer. I seem to recall that 47degree was used on a French engine, will check and post if I can find again.

I have been searching for a DAV for some time - preferably 50 degree, but any will do. Do you know of any available?

I discovered that the 47 deg DAV that I HAD was used on a 1909 Reading Standard twin.
I have since sold it to a friend who is putting it on his 09 RS.

I have a Bosch ZEV 50 degree CCW (from drive end) magneto that has been sitting on a shelf for close to 50 years. I had thought it was for a Pope , Thor or some other rare bike. It has a 1905 patent date.
