Bear Trap Washer/Terminals

Does anyone know a source for the solder-on “bear trap” washer/terminal used on wire ends? 1st photo is from an old VL harness. The 2nd photo is an after-market harness.

Hey William. I got some small brass grommets from JoAnns, tapped them with a blunt punch to start the edges bending over until it looked ready to wrap the wire. Wrapped it, bent them over and soldered them. As close as I could get to the original fender light wire on my 37. so i just talked with Chris a few minutes ago and he is having the progressive dies made up to reproduce the factory correct Hollingsworth terminal connectors. he expects to have these connectors available in approximately 3 months. Chris said to watch his website for availability. and he sells the brass terminals for 30 cents each.

this is really kind of funny. Chris was really great to talk to and a true specialist in old motorcycle wiring. anyway.... early in my convo with Chris, he said, "This is kind of weird, but you are the 3rd person who has called about these terminals today. i just got off the phone 5 minutes ago with a fellow inquiring about the terminals." i told Chris we are discussing these terminals on the DB and he got a chuckle out of it.

Steve, i appreciate your tip on the eyelets you found at Joanne's, it's a good one. when i went to joanne's a couple months ago they had larger and smaller sizes, but none that a re 3/16" so i was happy when the link to Vintage Motorcycle Supply was posted, as i had not heard of it Chris hadn't been getting calls on the eyelets for some time and then he gets 3 calls in one day, a few minutes apart from each other which he found it a bit puzzling and got a chuckle when i told him we were discussing eyelets on the discussion board and someone had posted a link to contact him. and i certainly did not intend to offend you, your tip on the eyelets is a good helpful one to folks who have a Joanne's that carries these eyelets.

Look for them under eyelets for crafts and leather supplies. Also under supplies for the orthopedic appliances and prosthetic field. Used on custom body corsets
wrist, knee, ankle supports and custom made shoes. A lot of those are lace up with eyelets.
