Stock finish?

What is the stock finish on the timer cap on a 1940 EL. Painted silver, chrome, or other? Thank you.

Both the timer cover and retainer would be cadium-plated. If you're on a budget or time-constrained, silver paint would reasonalby replicate cadium - depending on the paint tone. The order blanks I have seen do not reference a chrome option when ordering a bike, either as part of a Deluxe group or as a part available to order at time of purchase. I do not know if they were available in chrome as an Accessory through that catalog. Perhaps the more knowledgeable can add to this.
