  • oil line ground clamp

    I'm curious on where the part # is located for the 36-40 oil line ground clamp #3584-36. I have looked in all my parts books and cannot find it anywhere.
    Any help is appreciated.
    And John, it is not listed in the old numbers to new numbers reference. Otherwise I would give your 5 digit number. LOL

      It is part of the oil line therefore no part number for the clamp itself.

        So the over the counter dealership part in that time frame came with that clamp? Was it adhered with something? Or just clamped on?

        The part number I have came from Dennis Corso. I'm curious on where that part number came from.
        I have looked for that original clamp at swap meets and still no go as I would like to see what an original looks like. Probly just like Dennis and Carl sells. Just wondering if there is any difference.
        Example; An original handle switch stem #4556-37 (light switch) is not even close to the repop ones.

          I can see in my parts book that #3571-38C shows the return oil line with the clamp.

            The clamp is a piece of tin soldered to the line. Don't pay much attention to anything Dennis says as he is a car guy and doesn't know motorcycles.
            A friend ordered a set of fuel and oil lines for his '36 EL from him made in copper as original. The originals were then nickle washed. Dennis made them then cad plated them. So now they must be stripped and replated.

              It must be one of those parts that never showed up in the parts books, like the extension that goes under the zerk fitting on the brake cross-over tube.

                It was not a seperate part. It was part of the oil line and was soldered on.

                  Keep sayin' it, Chris! Attaboy, pretty soon it'll sink in and stick: when you bought that oil line over-the-counter, the terminal was a soldered-on part of the assembly, also by necessity including the two tapered-fitting nuts, janglin' around behind their tapers; all of it cad plated, usually.
