As Tom says... Mag will always run until it is grounded. The ground stops the spark, it doesn't energize the mag.

It's one of the reasons that, when starting a mag motor for the first time, we always have a 'spare' ground wire hooked up to kill the motor if it runs away. It can happen.

Odds are, that your mag wire is grounded... when it should be disconnected to run.

Pix of the bike? Love to see your project!

      Cheers,

      Sirhr

When you say "no spark," do you truly mean no spark, i.e. when the spark plug wire is held near the head there is no spark? Or, do you actually mean that the bike shows no sign of firing?
