Maybe some one here can lend a hand. Got a ridged rear brake plate that as always someone welded the stud when it came loose. I milled off the weld and knocked out the orignal stud. Got a new one with the washer still in the cosmoline. I made a tool to hold the stud in my hydrlolic press and Figured I'd look around for a hand held rivet pein to put in the press and crush away. Anybodie got a better way of doing this before my next trip to the emergency room.

Bob, The method you're attempting will take about 50 tons of pressure. This was done at the factory with an orbital riviter, which doesn't require as much straight-on pressure. It can be done very sucessfully with a hammer....and perhaps a little practice first, on some test pieces. -
Support the stud at its' base...not at its' head.Comment
