Windshield repair help

I just purchased some windshield beading from National Cycle to repair my vintage windshield. I am replacing the broken bottom half with another I am cutting to fit. The beading is very nice. It comes in 44" lengths and the cost and shipping was very reasonable. It seems to me that I am going to have to trim the plastic for the shape and size I want, and then heat the beading and bend it to the correct shape. Can any of you on the forum point me in the right direction as to the best way to do this. I did a lot of panel building with 1/4" copper or stainless steel in my youth and have a set of benders that may help, but I am looking for some expert advice from someone with experience. Thanks.

I'd contact a plastics distributor house close to your neck of the woods and then ask them if they have experience with the technology from the year your working with. If not, ask them to point you in the right direction. If you can't find anyone, that cracked piece you have that you plan to remove will allow you to conduct experiments to see what the results would look like from a DIY job.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have not thought of that but it seems that might work. Have to send my dear wife out shopping before I bring a pan of sand into her kitchen (don't want to do anything to get sand into those
good homemade baked goods coming out of there these cold winter days). Have you any experience with this?

Plasti-Craft in West Nyack N.Y. by the Tappan Zee bridge helped me out with some custom work in my buisness and also re-made an Indian side car windshield for my cheif. It wasn't an original or after market it was a hand made one built by the original owner and they did a great job.

I watched an optometrist do it with plastic spectacle temples.
An infra-red thermometer should help you find the right temp easily.
