  • Greetings from Southern Ontario, Canada

Hello fellow old bike enthusiasts. I am a new member from Southern Ontario. I am an ex-Brit (transplanted in the 70s) and thus, tend to gravitate towards old British bikes, mostly those I coveted but could not afford back when I was a teenage tearaway - 650 Triumph/BSA; 750/850 Norton. Now that I'm older and (hopefully) a little more refined I have gravitated towards more vintage models such as a restored '38 BSA 500cc Empire Star; a '39 Ariel Square Four (75% completed); and a '28 Ariel 557cc Model B (just started finding parts). I will be at the Waddington Can-Am River National Meet this coming weekend so if you are coming too bring all those late '20s Ariel parts you have been keeping in that half forgotten box at the back of the garage and donate them to a good cause . Hopefully it is not too wet for a good turn out. Does anyone know what time the gates open on Friday? I can't seen to find that info anywhere...

Greetings Ray~welcome to the Forum. Sounds like a great collection of British iron. I cut my teeth on those early British Motorcycles, which explains my admiration to this day in regard to them. Those '39 Ariel square fours are a beautiful machine. I had an opportunity to score one, but I opted for a '39 Tiger 100 instead. Good luck at Waddington.

Thanks guys. I will put together a collection of photos of my humble collection when I get back from Waddington and post them for you.

I myself would just show up at 6 AM and in the unlikely event that they wouldn't let me in yet, I'd just go out to breakfast!

Turns out the meet is in an open park, so no 'gates' or entry times to worry about. Hardly anyone there Friday. I expect both vendors and visitors have been put off by the weather forecast (rain all day Saturday/Sunday).
