I want to thank Lonnie, Fred, and Bill plus all other AMCA members for their quick response in passing out information. One minor detail to correct, the trailer was 16 foot instead of 20 foot. Lonnie was correct that I led the Carson Team 3 truck caravan driving Jon's Great PowerStroke Diesel, pulled the support Trailer from Daytona Beach to Tacoma Washington without a hitch. Jessie Law, the JD mechanic (Trained by Dr J. himself) rode shotgun in the truck and after many a long night of working on bikes would nap while I drove to the next stop.

After the closing ceremonies at the Lemay museum, we packed Jon's Truck to overflowing with the 5 motorcycles, all of our spare parts and special tools, luggage, Tee shirts from stops during the trip, everything we had except for what we needed for the night at hotel was packed into truck and trailer, ready for the trip home. There was 4 people to ride to Texas, and the mood was perfect after Team Carson pulled off two second place finishes in class 2 and class 3 by Mike Carson and Jon Neuman. It was decided to have a Team Dinner Monday night with the riders needing a little rest, Jon had the truck serviced for the trip home and it was parked ready for the trip when the worst happened.

We all lost everything but what we had on or carried to our room, after a once in a lifetime experience traveling with so many great people. I was lucky that I carried my laptop to the room. Flying home tomorrow, will post more later.

Thanks to all of our friends. Shelby

I'm not a big user of the social media outlets (Facebook, Instagram, etc.); however, after seeing how they were all blitzed by everyone (proving everyones sincere concern for our passion); I sure hope they turn up quick leads with the authorities and fast apprehension of the thieves! This incidence has made me think of hiding a Low Jack on my scoots!! Best of luck Shelby!

found the truck, still missing the rest

"UPDATE: Motorcycle Cannonball Support Truck has been recovered by Tacoma Sheriffs Department. Support Trailer, Cannonball motorcycles and equipment still missing. PLEASE continue to share this story worldwide. In the last 12 hours this has gone VIRAL in a HUGE way. We will not rest until these priceless machines and equipment have been recovered and the culprits brought to justice. Team Carson Classic Motors is STILL offering a $20,000 reward, which may very well be increased as supporters have offered to donate. HELP BRING THESE MOTORCYCLES HOME. Find the scum!!!!!"

Thanks William for the encouragement. Unless my tools are recovered I will have to retire from rebuilding or restoring for the public. 48 years of collecting tools from dealers, swap meets and trading with other collectors, I had amassed a complete tool box of antique tool and die makers hand tools for mechanical restorations and rebuilding linkerts including the factory cleanout tools, I brought my large metal storage box of n.o.s. Linkert parts for all models along with 4 carbs brought to keep these machines running, like I did on the Cherokee Texas Hill Country road run. All gone....................

I set out to prove to myself I had recovered from my Colon Cancer surgery by being part of this event, and I achieved that only to be kicked in the nuts by scum. I will wait for a while and see what happens, Mother starts Chemo again Nov. 11, so I will have my hands full at home.

Lets hope everyone recovers their losses, Shelby

I'm really sorry to hear this. Could we have engine numbers please, in case these bikes arrive in bits at the big Mannheim, Germany swap meet 10-12 October.

Shelby, Congrats with your recovery and I wish your mother all the best with a speedy recovery! I hope "Krama" is paying attention here and shows these thieves how much a "b*tch" she can be!

Really sorry for everyone's loses, devastating. Bad thing about the social media outlets, can also work against finding the scum. They are probably reading and following these same forums and other outlets watching to see our reactions. Sure hope everyone recovers their items, can't imagine. Best of luck.

If it is like most historical thefts the cases will not appear with the numbers that were on them-look at Ebay and see how many numbers jobs are sold every week-The Japanese and Aussies have been suspected but these bikes in pieces could be sold anywhere-including USA-The fact that many European countries don't need titles is easier than Japan to import
                    I hope they are caught

Has or can ebay be notified to be on the lookout for parts to these bikes ? Obviosuly, if they were to come across ebay, they would be in very good condition, even if all the paint was stripped off and i.d. numbers were changed. i'm certain the owners of these bikes know these machines inside and out and can identify their parts by work that was done on the parts to make them cannonball ready.

I think it will be up to the owners to scour Ebay for their parts..they will be the ones that can really ID them.

I don't suspect eBay cares what is sold on their site. They have no knowledge/history of items sold there. Their sole purpose is an outlet and to collect fees upwards of 20% (for non-volume sellers) + 4% for Paypal - all for never touching or handling any items. They will assist police by providing listing details and info of the owner's selling account and buyer's account if contacted by police (only - not by the victim). I hope all the scoots, tools, etc are found before . . . . . . . William

P.S. Below is a link to ebay's customer service page regarding stolen property:

UPDATE 9/24: Police apparently have recovered the truck and trailer, but it was emptied of the bikes, spare parts, tools, etc. The search for those continues.

no such luck, the hunt for the bikes continues
