    jd timing

    i modified an old hunt magneto and an old jd distributor shaft to run in the jd generator in a 27 jd. what would be the best way to time it? thanks

      thanks. on this hunt panhead mag, which lobe should i use for which cylinder small or large? has anyone done this conversion? if so how does it run with a wasted spark ignition?

        Can you post some pictures of the conversion?
        Are you going to run an operating generator as well or just the mag?
        The small or narrow lobe would be your front cylinder.

          the generator will be on the engine. i do not know if it works yet. i do not know how to post pictures. will have someone do it on friday. thanks

            I'm familiar with the J Model generators and how the timer is driven off the armature.
            That was my question, are you wanting lights or just ignition. Cause you could just run the generator with no field coils or brushes and just use it to drive the mag.

              generator is complete. if it works i will use lights, if not no lights. just want to see if mag works. thanks
