As a member who has abused forum decorum, and been disrespectful to fellow members I could be a candidate for exile. But, I think I've gotten a bit wiser with age and want to be a member that people can like, and maybe contribute here, and there. As Tom said, 'making waves' can be a good thing for a club that is as mired in antiquity as the AMCA. Personally, I liked Bob Luland and thought he was a genuinely honest person. I didn't like everything he said, but it wasn't his job to make me happy. Our forum can use as much participation as possible and controversial views are stimulating; like the 35 year rule which I think sucks:)

Nonetheless, he couldn't hurt me then, and he cannot hurt me now, but if he can benefit our community with services or products, give him another chance to screw up.

Ahhh~hurray, some imput. Personally, i never had problems with Bob, and i agree with Eric. I think Luland was basically a decent person with a New York Attitude. Also, this forum needs the contribution from every AMCA member, whether sweet or sour. But, i disagree with which the AMCA handled it. They could have given anyone with similar issues a Warning, and then maybe a short probationary period to shape up and adhere to the...'basic forum criteria' before an outright banning was issued. Waves are good when it comes to overall splashing, but at times Bob was doing some cannonballs into the pool~haha. We're all adults here, and what goes on in the AMCA Forum is...NOTHING compared to the fReAkS on Facebook and other similar forums.
I see that Bob did not entirely ditch the AMCA after the Ban, because he was & is still a member. Also, i bet he was looking in on the forum as a guest. And no Tom, i wouldn't vote You out, or any other AMCA member, because i basically believe in the 1st Amendment. Now, go take the wayback search machine here, and look at some of the disagreements & arguments in the past eight years or more. Some of them were brutal, but i didn't see any banning of the forum members by management!

Bobby ultimately screwed up bad-mouthing a dead person no doubt; My regard for him is minimal, but
shouldn't he still be allowed to redeem himself, if possible?
(The Yucky Urinal has banned me forever for my unforgiveable punctuation. Shovelhead.us banned me without warning when I posted too often about manifold testing. The Horse banned me because I said the only thing wrong with Sportsters was the loose nut on the handlebars. Etc., etc.
My point being that this forum excels quite well left alone.
The most repressive forum I encountered was CAI.mag. Look how that turned out.)

Just to clarify Tom, Luland wasn't banned after the R.i.P. Sullivan remarks. It was 2 years after that, when Bob made the 911 remarks that he was banned. And, now that You've mentioned it, i believe it was the moderator of the Forum that issued the banning. Apologies to the AMCA management if that was the case?
