    2011 AMCA Southern National Meet

I had such a great time in Denton, NC this weekend. I meet a lot of good people - saw a lot of fantastic vintage bikes and jsut had myself a good old time. This was my first AMCA event I have participated in and felt very welcomed and at home - keep up the good work! I was the guy with the 74 Montesa 123-T that had a grin on his face. What do y'all think about vintage cross country or trials next year?

I heard the meet was sparsely populated. Are high fuel costs keeping people away?

I think it has more to do with timing, being Oley was only two weeks ago and only a hand full of miles away.

537 miles is a bit more than a hand full. But if I had two major meets within that distance I would certainly make both.

Chris, you heard right, it was down from last year, however I did not go last year but that is what everyone that went last yr said. Gas prices might have been a factor also, plus the weather, even though friday started out misty and overcast, the rain held off, thanks, Larry

Living in east Tennessee, the (relatively short) trip to Denton didn't have a "gas price" issue for me. I didn't go however, because of the weather forecast. Called for 60% rain and thunderstorms all weekend. I'm now wanting to shoot myself. (or the weather channel)
