  • Motorcyclepedia Grand Opening

Just got back from the MotorcyclePedia Grand Opening. Fantastic! What an excellent job they've done. Worth the wait. Harley, Indian, Ace, Henderson,Pope, Cleveland, Reading Standard, Pierce,Merkel, Thor, Emblem, Vincent, Triumph, Simplex, Neracar, BMW, Ariel, on and on. That's just downstairs. B models, J models, V Models, Flatheads, Knuckles, Pans,K Models, XL's, XR's. Racers, Stugis, Dressers, Sidecars, Servicars, Military, Police. German Wall of Death Shows inside the building! Upstairs is the Indian Room with an Indian timeline. More Indians than you can shake a stick at. Then on the other side of the upstairs is the Chopper and Custom section with vintage choppers mixed in with Arlen Ness and Ed Roth examples. Lot's of memorabilia and movie posters. Rounding out the first floor is the A.M.C.A. Fast From The Past Exhibit overseen by Doc Patt in his portrait along side the Experimental Indian Torque 4. If you can't find something you love there, you better hang up your leathers. Brian Riegel A.M.C.A. #815.

That's The price for the general Public It can't be the same for AMCA members, No One could possibly charge a member to look at the Torque 4 (not an Indian) which was purchased with members money by the AMCA then given to the "Fondation" Could they ???? Why that would not be Right would it ??

Just saying the museam collection is really nice. I'm not involved in whatever other bullshit you guys are all bent out of shape about. Just stating it is cool. When the Amca Exhibit was in Hershey people pissed and moaned, now people are pissing and moaning about Newburgh. I've been in the AMCA since the late 1980's, I think it's great for the average public to get a chance to see the beautiful and historic machines we all enjoy, instead of people hoarding them away to themselves. Lighten up and smell the stale exhaust. #815.

How about having a museum centrally located. Maybe in Kansas.

That is quite a valid point, us folks in the East have easier access and I would find it difficult to travel cross country for a one day museaum visit.

The Foundation (Fast from the Past) exhibit is located in the Motorcyclepedia Museum, as donated space! Hense being located there and not anywhere else. Once(Fast from the Past) leaving Hershey, the Doering made the offer to share/make space for the exhibit to continue. The Motorcyclepedia Museum has more than enough interesting motorcycles to fill the place on their own! It is probably up to the powers to be(Foundation) where they could/should locate that exhibit or future exhibits. I'd recommend visiting the Motorcyclepedia Museum, as it is a world class collection!

My understanding is that they wish to take their displays on the road, touring various venues eventually. I think that is their goal. That would be a monumental task though. Maybe we should all check in with some local venues & museums to receive, and accept this if it can happen? I bet the locals could even slip in some of their own stuff?
                        Jus' sayin', RF.

                          Brian,
That is great for folks like you who live a couple hours away. For those of us west of the Mississippi it is a weeks ride to get there.

                            Yeah Chris,
I used to give Esta Mathos a bad time for having her Indian Museum in Springfield, Mass. The nerve of the lady, just because Indians were made there, and even IN her building. She couldn't picked a further location from me here in SF. But I visited many, many times. I guess it's all about one's priorities.
                            Merry Easter, RF.
