Quoting the seller's description: "THE CASES FOR THIS BIKE CAME OUT OF CUNNINGHAM HARLEY DAVIDSON IN ATLANTA..."
and "REPRODUCTION ITEMS INCLUDE A DEALER'S RACE FRAME THAT WAS MADE FROM MY ORIGINAL DEWEY SIMMMS RACE BIKE."
That ssounds an awful lot like an over-blown, over-the-top description filled with names dropped like raindrops to provide distractions to keep a potential buyer from realizing that what he's looking at is a carefully-groomed collection of parts that were never a bike in real time, the late 1920s. I mean, "Cosmolene-packed" engine cases found in a dealership? I wonder what the numbers are. Repro frame?
Seller shows no VIN, and makes no mention of it. I don't think R.L Jones ever laid eyes on that particular assembly of parts. Do you recall just how do replica bikes like this appears to be fit under today's "Competition Bike" rules?

I don't know... if I had all those real deal parts I'd want to build a bike out of it. Jim Davis even gave it a nod!!! How cool is that????!!!! To stand with that man and discuss eight-valves would be priceless. You can see that this seller has a passion for the bike so he painted an exciting picture. A completely original eight-valve it is not but it's a beautiful machine nonetheless. Would it have been better to just stack the parts in a pile and comb the earth the rest of your life looking for parts that just don't exist anymore? If it were a re-pop knuckle I wouldn't be as impressed....

Here is more on the bike. I think someone had posted this before, but maybe for one of his other bikes. Bitchin' bike, regardless of history. If all orig, this would be worth more than 4 times the buy-it-now price, IMO.

It's a damned if you do and a damned if you don't kind of situation. The extra little pieces could have languished away in boxes or ya build a bike around them. Let's face it, there's judgeable bikes and bikes that don't meet the criteria. But I don't see anywhere in the auction listing where it's mentioned that this bike is to be or was judged by the AMCA.Cory Othen

THIS 8 VALVE HARLEY HAS ALL THE OEM PARTS I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO ACCUMULATE OVER THE LAST 30 YEARS.THE CASES FOR THIS BIKE CAME OUT OF CUNNINGHAM HARLEY DAVIDSON IN ATLANTA - AND ARE N.O.S-WHEN I GOT THEM THEY STILL HAD THE ORIGINAL COSMELENE ON THEM.
I ask because we now know the correct Harley-Davidson factory motor number sequence that an authentic 1927 Eight-Valve should properly have. The Eight-Valve motor number being much different from an ordinary pocket-valve racing motor number.
Close readers of the fact-filled magazine "The Antique Motorcycle" will already know this. :-)
MANY OF THE ORIGINAL PARTS CAME OUT OF THE GEORGE SKEETS COLLECTION -THIS WAS ONE OF THE LARGEST COLLECTIONS OF OEM 2 CAM RACING ENGINES AND PARTS --SOME OF THE ITEMS FROM THE SKEETS COLLECTION WERE ORIGINAL MOTOR PLATES -OIL LINES-FENDER BRACE-MAGNETO-ORIGINAL LODGE RACING PLUGS-FOOT PEGS-AND MANY MORE SMALL PIECES .Last edited by HarleyCreation; 03-05-2011, 04:52 PM.

Sceets was a real guy and worked at Harley-Davidson for many years. He collected stuff from the Factory and had a lot of technical expertise plus he was a big Two-Cam fan die-hard. In fact a story that I just started working on mentions Sceets and some of his ideas, or "Skeeter" as they sometimes called him. New unknown factory insider stuff that we like so much!
