Ill. motorcycle plates

Looking for photos and sizes of 1930's thru 1940's Ill. plates.
in 30's and 40's did they have matched pairs? front and rear plates?

IL license plates

Hi Ken,

I used to have a collection of IL motorcycle plates from 1938 to the present day. IL plates for motorcycles were always one plate only. As far as sizes go, I don't have any dimensions, but they could vary in size depending on the amount of numbers. During the war years, '43-'48 they were fiber for cars and cycles had fiber and metal for
'46 & '47. 1937 and earlier cycle plates are much smaller, almost like a bicycle plate, and MUCH more expensive.
I'll attach a picture of plates for cars so you can get an idea of the colors.

I came across 2 sets was wondering if Ill. ran duel plates or are these for auto?

Ken,

The first set, 1936, are auto plates, they are shorter because of the low number.
The second set, 1949, are truck plates. They used a letter with the Front & Rear designations.
