Perhaps a return trip for an improved Ghost instead of the pre-planed !922 JD. Why jack another bike out of shape (wheels brakes etc...) for this event when the one I have is just fine. Lonnie's requirements include, pre !930 and 50 MPH on flat land not a problem for the Ghost.

sponsor wanted for cannonball 2011
I would love to enter the 2011 cannonball run but am asking for sponsorship if anyone is interested
items needed would be gas and oil,
food,
spending money for nessesities
and oh ya a pre-1929 motorcycle that will maintain 50 - to - 55 mph (prefer american but beggers can't be choosers)

Joe, I dont have a doubt that the Ghost well be up to it. Hawg, that cracked me up - your post. I wont be laughing anymore if someone takes you up on it, ya never know. Plenty of old fellows who can no longer ride that would like to see one of their machines make it, it could happen. Watching with much interest, also your updates on the last one Joe, good stuff.

Better chance to see a lot of true stock bikes (unlike a lot of those "period modified" pre16's) make it. The '28's and 29's will probably rule (especially Henderson) with drop centers and front (hill) brakes already original equipment. Harley's with battery ignition won't face mag issues. I am now fortunate to own Doc Patt's '28 Hen. It's on the bench now. I'd like to ride it CtoC as a tribute to Doc if I'm able. Frank Westfall already has some proven CtoC Hens in his garage that he can blow the dust off of and take off now.

It's time. They been waiting in basements, garages and attics. The tools and processes are in place. One lone streamliner has called on his brothers. They're coming. So stroke your 61's to 74. Stroke your 74's to 80. Do what you got to do. Like Rollie said, you're over there going bung, bung, bung, bung and we're over here going vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom. Hell, why don't you come back down to where you're supposed to be. Second thought, stay where you are. Don't worry Rollie, I'll carry on your hatred for Milwaukee and I won't be alone. The cold north wind is blowing, there's snow on the ground here, and I'm headed back to the shop to make more chips. There are very few off-the-shelf parts that you can buy to make a four cylinder run. You order them made, or make them yourself. If you missed the first Cannonball, now's your chance. A whole new wolf pack is on its way. Old world craftsmen and modern flexible tooling collide. Several streamliners and a couple deluxes on their way to a cannonball near you.

Talk all you want about the 4 cylinder bikes, you'll all be watching me and my 15 HD go right by you! AGAIN!
Then you'll be watching me in the hotel pool while you're all wrenching the night away. My wife will be rubbing my back and you'll be scratching your heads. AGAIN!
My bike never saw a lift at any museum of HD dealer. Look at all the videos out there and you'll never see my bike torn apart. Find a video without a 4 cylinder on a lift.
No rebuild, no repairs, just maintenance. While everyone was ripping their hair out in Hot Springs on the day off I was out riding my 58 Panhead and eating ribs.
Several of the other guys with perfect scores had changed magnetos, pistons, valves, rods, on and on. I just showed up and held her wide open until I hit the Pacific. I plan on doing it again.
No front brake or fancy tires here. No repop parts on my bike. No hours in a machine shop. She's just an old survivor.
I slept very well on the Cannonball. How'd you sleep Mark?
It's great to see the 4 cylinder bikes out on the road but lets get real, they just cant compete with the big twins!
If you need your 61 inch J model motor built for the 2011 Cannonball let me know. I built my 1915 Twin and completed the race with a perfect score. No rebuild! No teardown! Just riding.
I am looking to build up to 3 motors for next year's race.
