    is this a JD trans. top cover? or VL ,or not OEM .

      That's cool! let's see the inside of the cover. looks like some sort of aftermarket positive stop mechanism. as I see a patent number. Steve Lippoldt would know .

                      Bob McClean had one of these on his J Model sidecar outfit. He asked me to drive the Duchess County Fair Princess around the track at Davenport a few years ago in the sidecar during halftime at the races. I did a lap and passed the crowd to the first corner. Then I stopped, and we did a lap in reverse. It was one of those great moments, and brought the house down.

                        thanks for the info. i had hoped this was one of those reverse setups i had heard about. i knew they were out there ,but i had thought it was a harley item. it is missing the pivot arm and gear on the inside unfortunatly. the patent photos are a big help. i have always wanted to build a JD servicar ,and this will work nicely.
