Great pics of a day long gone.
I had an early Sheldon 11" similar to this..
Made a lot of stuff on that old baby, was a little loose for any fine work though. Sold it and bought Grizzly gunsmith lathe.

      Bob!

I have to re-install my 'old' Logan into the cellar before I can get my "new" South Bend into operation.

First metal cutting machine I ran was a 10" South Bend lathe. Just like they say about drugs look what they lead to, more drugs and stronger drugs.

Ran a couple of South Bends when I worked for Cat. Also ran a big old Ajax, I forget exactly what it would chuck. 28" x 96" I think with a powered tail stock. It was a real beast.

Tom, you must have had one hell of a time getting that out of the dumpster by your self!

              Bob!

The foundation I intend to move my Logan upon was a real test to get out of the dumpster solo: It's Italian slate from a pool table.

South Bend Model A 9" x 3 1/2' CL644Z NAR spec. Has come in handy for a lot of little things in bike rebuilds over the years.

This is my South Bend. You can see the headstock, and bed castings are the same as Indianuts lathe. My lathe would be like a '57 Panhead to Indianut's '39 Knucklehead.
