Here's something positive from me. How alot of my friends and I get to ride on road runs and attend meets is we pool our resourses. We get 3 or 4 guys, one has a truck, someone has a trailer, and whatever and we pool our monies and go. We start planning and saving at the start of the year (and that includes time off). We have to pick and choose. I may have to short myself in other areas but I wouldn't trade a minute of it for the roads I've ridden, friends I've made, and the experiences I can't place a price tag on. We've been doing this for more years than I care to count and it works. Where there's a will, there's a way. Nothing is free and to get something you have to give something. Life goes to fast and it's all a matter of priorities. What I gotten back from all my AMCA involvement is equal or more than I've put in. They owe me nothing. The books are balanced. Look on the bright side and follow Alfred E. Newmans mantra, " What, Me worry?" It's always held me in good stead. Take a ride, enjoy!

Not everyone has a bike to ride on a road run. Going to meets means days off work as they always start of Friday. Motels cost money as do meals on the road. Even for me to go to Dixon will cost over 300 bucks in travel expenses alone. Then ya need shopping money. Unless you go there just to stand around. Not everyone can afford the luxury of going to meets.

I've slept in a tent with a bag at Dixon. I'd hitch hike if i had to and wanted to go. I go there to see friends, see machines, etc. Hence the name MEET. No, not ever body can go to meets, road runs, etc. There's members that have 300 machines and some that have none. The point is, sometimes if you want to, you can. I've given up alot of wall hangers ( I had for years and got when they were cheap) many a time to get me where I wanted to go or for something different. Nothing worthwhlie is easy most the time. But if you want to you can if it's what you really want to do. I guess it get's back to my days in Nam. Our motto was, "Can Do!"

dr.sprocket you must be kidding about membership #'s.none of us rode with paul revere or saw john hancock sign the constitution.so should we close the polls here in the states? you maybe right that nothing will change but lets have a good go at it.
a few things need to be changed. why not have judging on sat ? why not change the date of rhinebeck or the viking meet?why so many closed door meetings? this is not a secret skull and bones club.just a group of people who like to buy, trade, ride, sell or restore vintage iron. sometimes you need to stop people at an inch or they will take a mile from you!

Tom I have to agree with you. It is a corporation and as such should be run like one. This is not about meets, road runs and chapters. It’s about management accountability, nothing more or less. That’s what’s missing lately.

We've had judging at our National meet on Saturday for quite a few years now. It's up to the chapter. We also changed our banquet to Friday night bacause people wanted to split after the judging on Saturday. Again it's up to the chapter. About management. Are you saying they've mismanaged? Proof please. Or do they do it different than you would or I would? They're mostly volunteers trying to do the right thing some times they miss, sometimes they hit. How has their mistakes ( if any) effected the product. Proof please. Lot of folks back seat driving and shooting from the bush. Like Mr. Faber put it, until you've sat in that seat how do you really know?

who is allowed to sit in the seat? has management spoke on the judging issues? rhinebeck national meet june 11-13. viking national meet june 11-13. 2 meets the same weekend sounds like mismanagement. i must say i will most likely never have a bike judged so i don't care who the judges are.the eustis judging situation sounds like mismanagement.i can't prove it but i would bet the museum deal will show mismanagement a loss of funds and just the sh*t end of the stick. people have been crying for months for records of exspenses.management should throw them in someones face and say here cry babby

Rich, I’m talking about financial accountability put on the board of directors. What in the world does judging and banquets have to do with that? I’m lost.

This post has got way off track

I started this to tell every one about the Petition that is online for every that well not get to " sign or not" That you will be seeing at the meets. I did not start that one . But if it get enough response from the member the board will get the hint that the members are not happy. From what i have seen the members want to be part of or at lest informed of what is happening , with your club not happened . Not to just be told we did this and shut up we did it and that is the way it is ,it is our club all the member ,not just the BOD club.

                        Bob and Rob

Let's see it's mismanagement because a medium size meet (Viking chapter) is on the same weekend as the big Rhinebeck meet (6 chapters) with more than 1,000 miles between them. Do you know how many good weekends there are to have meets and road runs with weather, locations, and distances in the mix. I've been in those discussions. Add more chapters on board (we've almost doubled) serving more members in locations all over the map. Let's see, mismanagement because volunteer officers and board members are lining their pockets with our dues money or throwing it away or worse? Write them a letter or e-mail put down what you want to know and why. I've flown a lot of paper to the board over the years because I had issue with one or more of their decisions. I got answers or it solved it's self. A company is in business to make money so this management is different in that aspect and more like an organization like the AMA ( but they are not volunteers). It got on to meets and road runs because some one said they couldn't get to them. Information is information from any direction.

I just can't imagine "not happy" right now. Things aren't perfect, but nothing's gonna spoil MY fun!
Make a little adjustment, and work with it. It'll all be good.

I have E mailed the link to the petition to all the members of my chapter. Perhaps all of you could do the same. Don't forget to tell them to include their AMCA # with their name.

Well, so far, out of 1130 people that viewed this thread, there's a whopping 30 people that are moved to sign the petition. 3%, aren't going to accomplish s__t.
