  • Period Modifieds / Bobbers

For a couple years the Dixie Chapter put on what we called the "Concours DeOrdinaire" at the Eustis meet on Saturday afternoon. It was a great chance for people with 60 point AMCA bikes (like Me) to display their riders, and various awards were given at the judge discretion. There was about 55 bikes in the last one held which was about what the national judging had the next day. My point is that this is very much what the period modified class could become. Of course rules would have to be followed and I think more awards should be given to encourage more participation. I also think the awards should be from the National instead of the local chapters hosting the meet. I do think we are moving in the right direction....just my thoughts, thanks.

I remember that! And it was a ton "O" Fun. Very neat to see.

Good to hear from you Louie. How goes the "engine in a pocket"? That little Swiss gem.

Are you guys talking Motosacoche, Mountaineer,Moto-Reve.
If so count me in. Those H & A Dufaux products are gems of Swiss engineering but I thought Motosacoche translated to "motor in a bag" or " motor in a basket". The family has 5 of these little darlings and i'd really like to contact other owners of them.

      Regards Tommo.

Engine in a pocket -if I recall. Don't ever quote me. Please.

Pete Gagan has owners guide? 1905 ? Shows eng. schematic. Looked like an engineers drawing -I think. Only a few pages but I'll get it off of him and convert to PDF. It seems to be a pretty rare bit of lit. It does show quite a bit, and may help to fill in some blanks for a few folks.

I think it was in french.....It will be up to you re-key the text and feed it into bable fish or something, if so. Maybe I could find someone to help produce summary notes of the important stuff...... hummmm....a good project for an enthusiastic young multiligual fellow. That is just finnishing school I belive.

Is that OK Pete? Can I get that off you next time I see you. I think we had talked about this 2 yrs ago or something. Louie was keen. I think his was a 20's? model.

Pete -tell the story of how you got the bike and the lit. It's a goodie. Or is this magazine material?

Does ANYONE else have ANY earily lit. of ANY kind on these things?

Ohhhh crap. Back to per mod bobber talk. Off topic ....again.

Thanks for asking Paul. I believe my Motosacoche is a 1910 or 11 clip on. It was made to clip on the bike frame instead of the early ones that fit in it's own frame work. I contacted the antique cycle club in England and got a ton of literature on the make and dated mine with it. I also got detailed drawings of most of the major parts. I have not worked on it lately, been concentrating on the Miami. I always welcome more literature that pertains to the make. Thanks.
