Yes, I can tin the tips of the ground down screws. Problem documented and solved. I still have to make a brief-sharp bend, right after the front mount thread hole for "Davidson", to the final leg of the "n". About a 1/2" long piece of stamped metal to bend, so the mount strip and script can hug the front of the tank tightly. I could use torch heat on the mount strip at that critical (the metal is going to be want to bend at the middle of the screw hole, not in front of the hole where I want it to bend), but the script is raised, chromed, and a piece of stamped steel and bending the "...n and the trailing edge sharply "there", is going to be problematical.. This may be the last step towards mounting the '54 tank script. We, and all concerned, thank you both.
