Danish Harley racer

Hi Tom, well observed. Here is another shot of the same bike but with a quite different setup. Seems to be the same type of boot as Barry B. have got reproduced (se other post on this board). The handlebars are different with this setup too (obviously).
Personally I really liked this bike and my head is spinning wether I should do the same mods to the rearframe on the J racer I am working on right now.

Danish Harley racer

Not an eight valve but still quite an interresting machine. This is a Danish Harley racer as raced in the late twenties-early thirties. I like the frame on this one, seems like a strenghtened original frame with gearbox, but with the Keystone features for the motor and a later type twin cam engine.
Lately I have found several pictures of different twincam racers that have been in Denmark, I am surprised by the number of machines.

I know this might be a little off subject but did Harley at anytime during this time period attempt a over head cam unit. I saw that photo of Melk’s engine and it got me thinking. Bob L

Now ya got me confused....... I thought Statnekov ended up with the machine and he has since sold it. Or, you already have the book and don't have to do any scrolling.........

cory i looks like you solved this mystery"for me anyways". in the book article you posted a link to, it states that john cameron parked the original freddie dixon lower end and put the freddie dixon 8 valve top end on a standard JDH street lower end in order to race it at bonneville .this and many other updates were done to the chassis for the race.this explains why most of the pictures ,including the one you just posted, of camerons 8 valve does not have a banjo lower end{ie.freddie dixon lower end}.barry was right,cameron only owned one 8 valve.when it was sold to statnekov it was probably sold in pieces or just mocked back together with all the original freddie dixon parts,which is why daniel most likely scoured the earth for as many original chassis parts as he could find to restore the bike to the way it most likely left the factory.in the end having one of the more original 8 valves ,not to mention the coveted dixon provenance.a brilliant move on camerons part to say the least, by not putting most of the dixon engine in harms way.man i love this stuff.

John Cameron had several two cams. His Grandson has one of them. Others went to other family members and some were sold.

O.K. I figured the pics were earlier but the article was printed in an eighties Walneck's. They didn't specifiy where the photos came from I guess.... Chris, do you know anything about the eight-valve's runs at Bonneville?
