The 10th annual Riding Into History Motorcycle Concours d' Elegance is comming up soon. Located a little ways North of St. Augustine Fl. at the World Golf Village. The Theme this year features the American machines. This is held along a beautiful tree lined sidwalk around the lake.
Don Bradley has produced some spectacular original art for this event for many of those years. This year it features an Knucklehead. His art is availble on posters and T-shirts. These posters can no longer be placed in the public access for advertisement because they dissappear as fast as the are put up.
The last several years there have been over 100 machines from all makes and years. The event is on Saturday May 16th only, with a little bit of a spill over for a breakfast ride on Sunday morning open to those who have put machines in the Conrours d' Elegance.
Even though this is not an AMCA event, the Sunshine Chapter members have been active participants in this show every year. If you are in the area it is well worth a trip to see this line up.
The Charity is the Buddy Check 12 Breast Cancer early detection program, a very worthy cause. The Buddy Check 12 folks by request send out info packs free of charge with 24 stickers to place on your calander on the 12th day of each month. Twelve of the stickers are for your buddy to put on her calander. This is to be used as a reminder for a self inspection regime and to call your Buddy to remind her 12 times a year that is is time to check herself. This is particularly affective for ladies that are living alone with no spouse to help. Talking with the founder of the program, she says that the same regular inspection routine is recommended for the early detection of testicular cancer.
The founder informs us that among 45% of the breast cancer surviors detected by this program the initial detection was done by the survivor's " significant other " . Therefore her recommendation was on the 12th of each month to go hme, light some candles to set the mood, open a bottle of wine and help your buddy, and if one thing leads to another ..
