  • Indian Motorcycle Rally Mt Morgan Queensland AUSTRALIA

    G'day everyone.

Just a quick report on the Indian Motorcycle Rally held in Oz (Mt Morgan
Queensland) over Easter this year. (Photos here)
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/33485879@N04/?saved=1

The event had approx 20 bikes participate, ranging from Wayne Jensen's
beautiful 1918 Powerplus Single (and jeez he can ride it!), Dick's 1924
Chout rocket ship (gotta be the fastest registered Indian in the country),
    through to superb 101's, Sport Scouts, 2 x Military 341 outfits, 3 or 4
741's and only three Skirted Chiefs (1947, 48 and 50 ?) Really interesting
as there were so few Post War Chiefs, and it was good to see so many earlier
    bikes in their place.

The riders traveled through, and visited locations within the historic Mt
Morgan Gold Mine region of Central Queensland, and the Rockhampton region,
whilst missing most of the floods which hit the coast. The Mt Morgan Camp
Ground was great, and the owner has been converted into a perspective Indian
owner, whilst currently owning a stable of WLA's.

Only two breakdowns, with a Sport Scout loosing an engine mount nut, hence
no rear brake, and a cracked handlebar after a bike slipped off its side
stand. 3 or 4 of the riders held a cracking pace, lead by the Chout Bobber,
    which we just couldn't catch.

My 80 cube 47 Chief with 4 speed box ran strong, although, I may switch over
to a left hand side Jockey Shift, for a more direct shift, and to be
    different(er).

The town turned out in force for a bike display, and while the region had to
suffer through 700 HOG members on their annual meeting in Rocky, comparing their badge collections and skull face bandannas, the Indians were without fail the favorite of the crowds.

It was a fantastic 'Long Weekend' and I'm really looking forward to being
able to attend next years run, hopefully with my 1922 Standard and Chair.

    Best wishes everyone.

    Ken.

Thanks for the comments fellas, and glad our little get together was of interest.
Louie, just click on the link to the photos.
Steve, if you ever get down this way and need a bed for a while by the Great Barrier Reef, just yell.
Hawg, I'll speak with Sharlene, as she went stupid with the camera, and may have other shots.
I'll post them if I find any 341 photos.

              Best wishes everyone.

              Ken.

                    Thanks Ken,
He didn't make Davenport this year either. Next time I'm in New Zealand at the inlaws I may have to pop over to Earlwood and knock on the door. I got a Brother -in-law in Southwest Rocks, poor bloke is a Harley man, still love his sis though!
