This section has been up for quite a while now, and a lot of things have been bought and sold on it, I was wondering what good deals members have gotten from this overlooked section of the forum.
The best thing that my dad and I have gotten from it wasn't really something that we bought, it was something that we traded for. Three or four years ago there was a listing for a knucklehead in the For Sale. We contacted the guy right away and it turned out that he had inherited the bike from his late father. The son wanted to sell the bike to buy a brand new Fat Boy from his local dealer. My dad told him to go to the dealer and test ride a couple of different bikes to make sure that he really wanted a fat boy.
The son called us back a couple of days later and said that he wanted a road king because it was a better bike.
Well wouldn't you know that we just happened to have a two year old road king. My dad and the soon-to-be ex knuckle owner struck up a deal and the two bikes changed hands. The bike ended up being a 42 knucklehead chassis with a 46 engine in it. We had a spare 41 knuckle engine laying around that we rebuilt and threw in it, changed the tail light, horn and some other little pieces and had a primo 41 knucklehead!!! My uncle Cary bought it from my dad and rides it all over the place. He took it on our prewar knucklehead run this summer and had a blast. I put a tour pack on it for him, it kind of funny looking especially when he turns on the lights!
So now it is your guys turn. What is the best thing that you have bought off of the site, or what did you sell that was really tough to get rid of?
