  • Saying hello and some question

First off let me say hello to the club.
I just picked up a 28 JD motor that is fair condition but missing some parts. I'm trying to get my hand on some shop and service manuals for the JD motor itself. So I can find out what I have and also what I'm missing. I'm also looking for reliable parts sources and services. I will try to be as helpful as I can. I'm located in the Detroit aera. Thanks for letting through the door.

      Welcome!

Welcome, Dale. You'll be able to find anything you need for your JD. Here's one: Competition Distributing, Sturgis, SD. Phone 605-720-1903. It's also vendor 'flyingbanana" on Ebay.
There are other sources, too, for just about everything JD. If you have the $$$ and a little patience, it's about as easy as putting together a present-day bike. It's all being remade in repop.
Another good source for information is:

      http://www.CAIMag.com/forum

That's a bunch of people from all walks of life just into old Harleys and Indians. It's pretty congenial and well-controlled, like this forum, just a little different.
Either here or there, if you ask a question, you're pretty well assured of having a response within about 24 hours from someone who knows what they're talking about.
