  • photos St. Louis motordrome, 1914

Guess these have been online awhile, but I just found them.

Several photos of St. Louis boardtrack, rescued from a garage sale garbage bin. Scroll down approx. 3/4 way down the page.

I think the track was either at, or immediately adjacant the old Highlands Amusement Park on Oakland. Does anyone know if that is correct?

Thanks Dave, really enjoyed those and first time I have seen them. Did you notice how rough some of that wood was?. That must of been a thrill, running flat out on those tracks and no brakes on those skinny tires. Man would it be awesome to go back and see em run! Thanks again.

Here is a skinnier Jay Leno in the blue shirt circa 1984.

What a treasure. Some of the riders look like kids. To go back in time to see a
board track race would be breathtaking. It is no wonder it was such a big sport
back in the day. In the group photo there looks like there is a overhead valve motor but I haven't been able to tell what make it is.

Yep, that was truly a fascinating era... at least I thought so.

Show you guys something my ex-wife made for me years ago, if I can utilize my limited computer skills... image below

This is a hand-inked, hand-quilted wall hanging. Boards and grandstands are "quilting lines".... priceless.
