I have an aerosol spray can fire extinguisher by Amway that I sometimes carry. It is 30 years old or so, and I have no idea whether it still works. It would be great if someone would make a similar product that could be mounted -- or at least carried -- on a motorcycle. I did a market search for such a product a few years back, but did not find anything that looked like it would fill the bill.

We had an Amway guy at work. A friend of mine there tried to buy some driveway cleaner from him. The Amway guy told him, " I don't sell soap, I sell dreams !" Personally, I'd check out that Amway fire extinguisher before your next ride.Eric Smith

Pa,
I do know that the U.S. Army banned them from use in army helicopters.
Few years back, they made a big deal about removing the CO2 containers, and installing Halon extingiuishers...
Couple months later..........put back in the CO2 containers, and gone Halon.

Hi Chris.
Nope. All you would do is burn some nice jackets as well as the bike.
You need to smother a fuel fire to cut the O2 off. As fuel was continually running on to the hot engine, the jackets would most likely been useless.
One of those things when you have no extinguisher.
Jeez I wish I could retype 'Tragedy' in the title. Most embarrassing spelling mistake.
I normally spel reel goodly!

I recall from the Henderson deluxe rider's manual. "if the engine catches fire when riding do not paNIC. CALMLY REACH DOWN AND TURN THE FUEL OFF AND ACCELERATE TO BLOW OUT THE FLAMES" That same manual recommends setting the valve clearances " with a well worn dime"
