  • Ride to Work Day

Could we take a moment and get back to the business of what this club is supposed to be. "People enjoying Antique Motorcycles" Yesterday was the National Ride to Work Day. Lets celebrate a post that is all positive about riding Antique Bikes - Could We?

Lets post your picture of what you rode to work yesterday
I will start with a picture of my ride to work of about 25 miles in distance. I rode the 1931 VC Harley Davidson to Roadshow BMW and then rode to lunch to meet about 10 other local chapter members.

Let's see if we can keep a post focused on what the real love is all about here.
    Post your Rides!

      Hey Dave
Did not mean to "kill" your thread. Hopefully everyone knew my reply was humor between friends. Surely someone else rode to work. Lets see some photo's.
Dave did ride his VC to work.......but I question the distance he stated.

Great idea Dave. I took the 45 to work all week. I got tranny trouble with the pan or I'd be on my way to Wauseon on it today. Not sure I want to try that ride with the 45.

Steve, I remember when you were in the process of getting that bike, getting it running right, and dealing with the saddlebags. Seeing it is like seeing an old friend even though I've never personally seen the bike. That's what I love about this community.

Ride to work, work to ride

Rode the old Pan to work, it's only a few miles to work, but we usually take the "scenic route" on the way home. Ridgid Pans were made from '48 to '57, and this one has parts from most of those years! I change out parts as I find them (when I can afford them!), to try to make it more correct. She runs good, starts easy. Fun to see the reactions from evo drivers and other civilians when kick starting and hand shifting.

I rode my 1931 Indian Scout 101 to work at American Iron Magazine www.aimag.com and several of the other staffers who were in the office, also rode.

I have photos of me and the bike but do not know how to load them here. I was able to load the photos at our www.caimag.com site but I guess the software here is different and I am not too good with this on-line stuff.

Good idea about talking about riding antique motorcycles. I did not take any pictures for ride to work day because I did not realize it was a special day to ride. I ride my 1945 Indian Chief about 3-4 Days a week all year long to & from job sites & also as Transportation for errands. Weather permitting, maybe only 30-40 miles a day but I have enjoyed this almost daily rides for about 8 years now, just went on the Catskills road run also did get pictures there & had a great time. But I guess my point is you don't need a special day to ride to work it's great just to take it out I also prefer riding to work as offten as I do because I don't really like riding on weekends because of the added traffic out there. so take them out 7 Ride them often. Just my 2 cents

Wish I could ride to work

When I was living at home in the Bush, I would regularly ride my 47 Chief 130kms return to the Airforce base.
Now I'm away from home, living in an apartment complex, in Canberra, I could only imagine how impressed the Body Corporate would be if I started the bike at 0630h, and let it warm up. It's Winter here, and temp is around -2 at that time in the morning, and as I currently have to wear a dress uniform, it couldn't get harder.
Just another benefit of my current posting which I'm really getting tired of.

                    Ride safe fellas.

                      Bike & Rider pics

Well, I guess thats all the "ride to work day" pics we're gonna get, I thought there would be a lot. I understand that it might not work-out for everyone to ride to work that day, or maybe not any day. Still, I think the bike and rider pics are interesting, and I'd like to see more. Personally, I don't care where the pics are taken, it's just fun to see guys with their favorite bike (or one of their favorites). Some "in the wind" pics would be outstanding!

Here's a photo of me and my unrestored original paint 1969 XLCH Sportster. My ride to work was only about 12 miles but it was fun and the weather was great.
