Hope no one is still holding thier breath. But I thought I would let you guys know of some of things going on with the national. The reason I titled this Help Wanted is the club is need of a new Editor, Rick Schunk unforturatly is resigning, after 18 years of service as editor. He will be deeply missed, and we wish him well. Rick finished the Spring magizine and it should be sent out shortly. I've been in contact with a couple of possible new editors and looks like there will be no disruption in the magizine. Anyone knowing of someone that could fill job ,have them contact me. On other topics, the club has come to an aggrement with AACA Museum to lease a section of thier museum, to display are motorcycles. The ribbon cutting will be June 7, 2008. Hope many of you will attend. Geoff Ringle has been hired as acting general manager till Davenport, when this job will be put up for bid. Geoff's first job will be to get museum full of nice motorcycles, If anyone has one to loan contact Geoff at Geoffamca@aol.com or call 609 396 5744 EST. As you guy know I don't visit this forum much, so if you having questions on anything feel free to contact personlly RHa4280280@aol.com Rocky

Good to hear from you Rocky. Sorry to hear about Rick Schunk, has it really been 18 years, wow, he sure did a great job, hope someone can step into those shoes. If I was to loan a bike to the museum for display would I have to have my own insurance?

I am sorry to learn this. Rick Schunk put together a top quality publication in "The Antique Motorcycle," a journal that increasingly strives to be the best publication in existence to explore the wonderful history of the American motorcycle, plus being the official AMCA record. Rick was a very good editor to work with; not the other kind. He and I had mapped out several exciting future article ideas, that are now uncertain at best. Rick was always enthusiastic and showed a deep love of our hobby and sport. His long successful record proves it. If there is some misunderstanding or conflict in this development, I would urge all parties to reconsider in "the Spirit of Good Fellowship" (as they would have expressed it around Milwaukee years ago.) Rick's publishing experience, enthusiasm, and his layout wizardry will be hard to replace at any price.

          Sincerely,
          Herbert Wagner

That has to be the hardest job in this club, especially when it was done to the quality that Rick gave us, issue after issue. I sure wish him good fortune in the future and thank him for the best damn motorcycle magazines in the world.

All things are possible, but Rick is going to be a tough act to follow. Good luck to Rick in his future endeavors. And good luck to our B.O.D.'s in finding a suitable person to fill the position. Lots of change's in our Club fellows, lots of change's

The mag has been great. Probably my best benefit form the membership. Those are some big shoes to fill. I wish I had the ability to help. Good luck to us all on this one.

I think for many members the magazine is the primary (if not the only) benefit they get from club membership. To echo what others have said, Rick has done a GREAT job on the magazine. Newer members may not realize that it's only been the last 6 or 8 years that editor has been a paid position. For the first half of his tenure Rick volunteered countless hours putting out the magazine. Thanks Rick! ... Perry

I am very sorry to hear that Rick will be leaving his position as editor of our club magazine. His skill hard work and love of our hobby has made the magazine the great asset to our club that it is.
I don’t know what brought about Ricks resignation But as Harleycreation said (If there is some misunderstanding or conflict in this development, I would urge all parties to reconsider in "the Spirit of Good Fellowship)

If Ricks resignation is not reversible then I would like to thank him for all the hard work he has put in to our club and wish him luck with what ever he decides to do in the future.

I would concur with the comments that have been made here regarding the job Rick has done. The magazine is top notch.

                        Thanks Rick!

                          AMCA Editor resigned???

I just heard that Rick Schunk AMCA Editor has resigned! What is going on? Did he write a last note in the soon to arrive summer mag? I sure hope so. I would like to know the details as I spoke to him in late March and he never said a thing.
I agree with everyone who has posted here, the mag. is our connection to the club and events. It has come a long way in the last 18 or so years, the best mag out there dedicated to our hobby!
Can anyone on the board shed any light on this for me?

                            help wanted - Rick Schunk

I want to add my two bits on this news about Rick, and support the sentiments already mentioned. As I recall, I met Rick and his wife Linda in Hill City, SD when a National Road Run was there in the early 90's. They were both friendly, approachable, and helpful with bringing me some club merchandise there I had ordered (to eliminate the Cdn. Govt's cut!) I last saw Rick as he was traveling on a modern bike to several of the Club meets when he was at our Tenino, WA meet 2-3 years ago. He asked me about my Chief and included me in his story about our meet in the Club magazine.
It is a surprise, to say the least, when a long-serving and dedicated member leaves such an important position suddenly. As has been said, if there is a problem and a way to fix it, I hope it happens.
The excellence of our magazine has continued to flourish under your guidance as Editor.
                            THANKS RICK!!

I agree with all the replies. Two fine gentleman I would nominate are Jerry and Perry. I can think of several more but you two came on at the top of my list. Paps
