  • The Indian Wrecking Crew

Thought I would let you all know of the Fall release planned for the Indian Wrecking Crew documentary... You can check out the promo trailer on our website:

    http://http://www.indianwreckingcrew.com

We have been real busy the last year interviewing the remaining "Legends" of the IWC as well as Smitty (Erwin Smith), Paul Goldsmith (HD), Everett Brashear (HD), Dick Mann (BSA) and Ed Kretz Jr. (Indian & Tri) and a few more to follow.

We are still in search of photos and film though... so if you have any old 8mm or 16mm of Flat Track with the IWC from the late 40's to Mid-50's you would like transfered to DVD I'll be glad to do it as long as we can use the footage for the documentary if we need to. Give me a shout if you would like to help out.

We met with Jay Leno Sunday night. He will do the narration for the documentary, things are moving along with reenactments planned for early Spring here in Spokane, WA. If you live in the NW, have a 40's - 50's era Flat Track Job and want to be in the shoot, get in touch through our site.

There are more photos and video on our series website:

    Thanks for viewing,

    John

Sounds like a great project. I was wondering if you could provide me with "Smity's" contact info or at least ask him a question for me. I have a 1948 Norton Manx that I believe was Dick Klamfoth's 1948 amatuer bike , one of 5 Manx's sponsered by Smitty. I am trying to document this fact. Through race programs I have been able to eliminate 8 of the 25 Manxs that J.M.McGill imported to North America in 1948. Dick Klamfoth looked at the bike and suspected it was his from the repair work done to the upper rear chainstays ( a common breakage point unfortunately with the "garden gate "frames) but of course without serial number proof it is all anecdotal. Please help if you can. I am trying to find a race program from Troy, Ohio dirt track races in 1948. This may resolve the puzzle as I have a 1949 program in which the serial numbers are listed and with this the numbers of his then professional bike possibly his 49 Daytona winner but that is another story! Thanks, Barry

oops it was already posted at the top! But in reading their timeline they indicated they would start last spring and then post production could take as long as a year. So we might be waiting another season or two........

"The Wrecking Crew". Wasn't that the name of the H-D Factory racing team? How did Indian wind up with it?

Indian Sales Corp. was the US importer of Norton in those days.

                    Project closed?

The last dates we can see on their
website is back in 2008. Is this
                    project even still being pursued?

I had sent an email asking the same question, I think it was earlier this year or maybe last winter and they reply was Fall of 09. I was hoping for something at Davenport, but did not see anything regarding the IWC.
