  • Davenport, Iowa "Big One"

    We attended our first AMCA
"The Big One" event, in Davenport, Iowa,
last weekend and we would like to thank the
    Blackhawk Chapter volunteer/workers who spent
hours making sure all went smoothly for the visitors.

"The Big One" was blessed with terrific
    weather and thousands of folks
    flooded the Fairgrounds.

On Sunday, we participated in the
    AMCA motorcycle Judging, which was
overseen by Kevin Valentine - Chief AMCA Judge.

    His volunteer judges reviewed each
    and every motorcycle, in competition
and then, after all the Judges Sheets were
reviewed and double checked ... awards
    were distributed around noon.

We drove over 1,200 miles, to bring
our bike to "The Big One." It was worth
every gallon of gas, (truck towing a trailer!)
and we look forward to spending more
time, at AMCA events in the future.

    Congratulations AMCA and your Blackhawk
    Chapter.

Here's a few pic of "Judgement Day" Louie.

Roger, Don't count on the weather being as perfect as it was this year, but its always worth the trip! This year was exceptional in almost every aspect. What bike did you bring to the show?, I was one of the guys in an orange vest (but I won't tell you which one, hah!), just in case you weren't happy with your sheet.

I got home this past Sunday from a 5100 mile roundtrip that included Davenport. What a show!!! It gave me enough early American iron to drool over if only in my memory banks and photos to last me awhile!! I can't say enough about the atmosphere, the people or the weather........it was all perfect!! My hat is off to the folks that work so hard to make it all work!! I know that I've never seen so many racers or Knuckleheads in one place ever!! We stopped in at the Salt Flats for a look around on our way home and caught the motorcycles only land speed record trials. What luck!!! Some tasty Vincents were on sight and the bikes were moving in a speedy fashion....

Oh, and I was most excited to meet Jerry Hatfield and pick up a copy of his Rollie Free Flatout.......as well as having a chat with Buzz Walneck......and also a nice chat with Jean Davidson.....it pays to leave the mountains once in awhile I guess..........
